About Us
Sri Lanka Association for Quality Education (SLAFQE)
About Us
The modern world is undergoing rapid and continuous transformation driven by advancements in technology, globalization, innovation, and the evolving demands of society. Education systems across the globe are therefore required to continuously adapt in order to prepare future generations for an increasingly complex, competitive, and unpredictable world.
In many developed nations, professional educational associations, research organizations, teacher networks, and academic communities play a significant role in strengthening the quality of general education. These organizations actively contribute to educational development through professional training, educational research, policy recommendations, curriculum innovation, leadership development, knowledge-sharing platforms, international collaborations, and the promotion of best practices in teaching and learning. Their contributions have become essential in supporting governments, schools, educators, and communities to build sustainable and future-oriented education systems.
As a developing nation, Sri Lanka also faces the urgent need to transform and modernize its general education system to meet contemporary global standards and future societal needs. Although various educational reforms have been introduced over time, challenges still remain in areas such as curriculum modernization, teacher professional development, innovative pedagogical practices, educational leadership, digital transformation, assessment methodologies, and research-based educational planning.
Education is the foundation of human capital development and the driving force behind national progress. The quality of a nation’s education system directly influences its economic growth, social harmony, cultural advancement, and democratic sustainability. Therefore, strengthening general education is not solely the responsibility of governments; it requires the collective engagement of educators, researchers, academics, policymakers, institutions, and civil society.
Recognizing this national responsibility, the Sri Lanka Association for Quality Education (SLAFQE) was established as a professional and collaborative platform dedicated to uplifting the quality of general education in Sri Lanka. SLAQE aims to bring together educators and educational stakeholders through a dynamic knowledge-sharing network that promotes innovation, research, professional excellence, and educational transformation.
The Association is committed to supporting the education sector through:
- Professional development and capacity-building programs for educators
- Research dissemination and evidence-based educational practices
- Educational conferences, seminars, workshops, and international collaborations
- Promotion of innovative teaching methodologies and digital learning
- Leadership development in education
- Policy dialogue and advocacy for quality education
- Sharing of global best practices adapted to local educational contexts
- Building professional networks among educators nationally and internationally
SLAFQE envisions becoming a leading educational platform that inspires excellence, lifelong learning, innovation, and collaboration within the Sri Lankan education sector. Through collective commitment and professional engagement, the Association seeks to contribute towards building a future-ready education system capable of empowering children with the competencies, values, creativity, and resilience required for the twenty-first century.
We warmly invite educators, researchers, academics, institutional leaders, and all stakeholders who are passionate about educational advancement to join SLAFQE in its mission to strengthen the quality of general education and contribute meaningfully to the future development of Sri Lanka.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more you are a leader.
